A fresh perspective for those in recovery from addiction
Are you returning from rehab and seeking a halfway house in London?
Are you in recovery already but need more support, safe housing and counselling?
Are you in recovery, but keep relapsing?
Charter Primrose Hill is a ten bed terraced halfway house in central London offering safe, contained and comfortable accommodation for people in recovery from any addiction. The house has excellent facilities and is located close to the park and the charming shops and cafes of Primrose Hill.
At Charter Primrose Hill, clients who have completed a primary stage treatment, as well as clients who are taking part in the day programme at Charter Day Care, are offered supported accommodation as a boundaried and supportive platform from which to facilitate their ongoing treatment or return to work or education in the later stages of treatment.
The house is overseen by an in-house supervisor 24 hours a day, and is under the direction of the House Manager, Clare Sole. Clients' individual treatment programmes or weekly schedules are monitored and supported, and help is available around the clock for any difficulties clients may experience whilst resident at the house. Abstinence remains the name of the game and our residents will constantly be encouraged to be active in their recovery rather than passive, monitored carefully by the resident House Manager who in turn will provide a strong input into daily procedures. Twelve Step Fellowship meetings are mandatory, as are regular house meetings to ensure the smooth running of the Charter Primrose Hill community.
Charter Primrose Hill does not conduct therapy groups on site, preferring to maintain the house as a contained residential environment: rather, support is always on hand in the form of the counselling supervision staff and in the form of activities such as meditation, community dinners and 12 step fellowship support. Clients in recovery from eating disorders will find that support around their meals and food plans is a particular strength at the house.
There is a strong sense of community at Charter Primrose Hill, and a requirement for residents to fully engage with the management and communal success of the house. This includes the weekly shopping orders, a once-weekly House Supper, supporting one another in recovery and in attending fellowship meetings, and voicing suggestions and concerns at house meetings. As a 'bridge' to fully independent life free from addiction, Charter Primrose Hill is the ideal environment for those in recovery.
Treatment programmes, occasional support day care, individual counselling, family counselling and free aftercare programmes are also available (see other services).
